National Day of Prayer May 2, 2013 to be held at the Dayton Peace Museum

(Please Forward)

2013 National Day of Prayer Theme and Verse

Greater Dayton Christian Connections and the InterFaith Forum of Greater Dayton will be holding a prayer vigil on Thursday, May 2, 2013 from 7:30am-8:15am at the Peace Hall located at the Dayton International Peace Museum on Monument Ave in downtown Dayton. The theme of 2013's National Day of Prayer is "Pray for America."

The upcoming 62nd annual National Day of Prayer, May 2, 2013, will have profound significance for our country.  We have an unprecedented opportunity to see the Lord’s healing and renewing power made manifest as we call on citizens to humbly come before His throne.  To echo the words of Mary Washington, mother of our nation’s first president, we believe it is time to “Remember that God is our only sure trust.”

Our theme for 2013 is Pray for America, emphasizing the need for individuals, corporately and individually, to place their faith in the unfailing character of their Creator, who is sovereign over all governments, authorities, and men.  To further highlight our theme, we’ve chosen Matthew 12:21 as our Scripture for this year:  “In His name the nations will put their hope.

Special Prayers will be offered by the  Baha'i, Catholic, Jewish, Muslim and Sikh Faiths.

Darryl Fairchild, whose dedication to interfaith understanding through early leadership of Greater Dayton Christian Connections has transformed social justice in the area. In 2003, he brought together leaders from Jewish, Christian, and Islamic communities to participate in respectful dialogue following the beginning of the Iraq War. We were initially known as the Dayton Interfaith Trialogue. In the years since, IFGD has broadened its reach to all faith communities.
